Scottish Women in Sport was founded in 2013 with a simple philosophy – Raise awareness and increase the profile of women in sport. In this our 10th year, our conference will focus on Breaking Barriers – A Decade of Progress. We ask how far has equality come in the last ten years?
With so much good work being carried out by a host of organisations and individuals, we will look at some of the good news stories and learn from the experts on how to embed a culture of equality into your sport.
SW/S will share their vison and impart their strategic plan for the forthcoming years. Where can we help, how do we support the work that is currently happening? We also dig deeper into our partnership with SAMH and the Young Women’s Leadership Programme – and ask, what will be the impact of this project, what are our expectations?
We explore the media coverage of women in sport, hear about the success of women’s football and the continuing work of UEFA building on that strong platform from Euro 2022. Learn how the newly formed Equal Media and Culture Centre will help monitor progress and hear from Scottish Squash, who work tirelessly to ensure equality across the board.
With the UK being host to the International Women’s Group, Lisa O’Keefe will outline her plans for the 4 year term and how it will impact on equality and sport.
Our partners for this event sportscotland and UWS will also present. UWS will look at how far research into women in sport has come, whilst sportscotland will focus on their work in this field.
