SW/S Awards 2022

The selection panel met on Wednesday 5th October to choose their finalists for 2022.  As much as we would love to give everyone an award, this is just not possible. So please note, for ease of administration only those who made the short-list will be notified. SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR

We are looking for an athlete participating at senior level, who through application was selected for representation on the international stage. Any athlete who has achieved excellence in their sport during 2021/2022 season.

PARA ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

We are looking for a para-athlete participating at senior level, who through application was selected for representation on the international stage. Any athlete who has achieved excellence in their sport during 2021/2022 season.

SW/S - INSPIRATION IN SPORT

This award will recognise an individual or group of people who have overcome adversity, physical, mental, social or cultural and through using sport and working to their optimum achieved and thrived in 2022. Their indomitable spirit and hard work, defies expectations and inspires others.

sportscotland - YOUNG SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR

We are looking for an individual, participating at junior level, who through application was selected for representation on the international stage. Any athlete who has achieved excellence in their sport during season 2021/2022 born after December 2005

UWS - TEAM OF THE YEAR

It is recognised that in all aspects of sport, team work is key to success. This award recognises the high quality achievements of a team over the last year and reflects on how they have achieved excellent performance results. The team winning this award must have achieved sporting excellence whilst encompassing good practice both on and off the field of play.

FRAME - COACH/MANAGER OF THE YEAR

The Coach of the Year award is open to coaches at any level of sport and will be presented to the individual who imparts knowledge and expertise within their chosen sport in order to ensure success at their specific level in sport.

MG ALBA - SPORTING CHAMPION

This award is open to teams and clubs at junior and or senior level within sport and will recognise the work carried out in their community. The application should reflect on how they work to encourage new members within the community to join their club. The team or club must be in membership of a recognised sporting organisation.

SCOTTISH CLUBSPORT VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

This award is presented to a person or group of people who in the opinion of the panel worked tirelessly in the background to support athletes or clubs during the past year. This award is open to everyone, could be mother father, teacher, coach etc. who through volunteering and dedication make a difference to their chosen sport.

QTV - CHAMPION OFFICIAL

Officiating in sport can be a thankless task, however we all agree sport requires officials to exist, whether participating at recreation or elite level.  This award will recognise the efforts of an individual who through their involvement in sport enables athletes and players to participate.  This award is directed to officials, referees and umpires.

RECAST MEDIA CHAMPION 2022

This award seeks to recognise individuals, organisations or media outlets who, through their use of media (including social media) have made a positive contribution to women’s sport. In particular, we are looking for individuals or organisations who have made innovative use of media to increase the profile of women’s sport in Scotland. This can include social media, podcasts, blogs, or any traditional media form which seeks to promote and advance women’s sport.

Tru Wealth - PIONEER IN SPORT

Following our first Pioneers in Sport lunch in March 2018, we continue to induct into the SW/S Hall of Fame, celebrating the pioneering spirit. For this award we are looking for a woman/women or team, whether in the recent past or posthumously, who, through their involvement in sport, which would largely have gone unrecognised, whether on or off the field, has empowered and inspired women and girls to participate in sport today.
