SW/S AWARDS 2026

This summer has been an exciting year for all sport in Scotland, and the SW/S Awards allow us a small opportunity to recognise those who are involved in the many different aspects of sport.  We have ten awards waiting for your nomination, so submit now.  Closing date is Friday 11th September. Only one nomination required per person and a selection panel, comprised of our category sponsors, will decide the finalists.  The three finalists will be advised and invited to attend the event.  Check out the list of categories and then submit your nomination.

SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR We are looking for an athlete or para athlete participating at senior level, who through application was selected for representation on the international stage.  Any athlete who has achieved excellence in their sport during 2025/2026 season.

ISHGA CONTRIBUTION TO PARA SPORT This award will recognise the continued growth and awareness of the power of sport for athletes with a disability.  Open to individuals whether competing, participating, coaching, officiating or volunteering who through their efforts or achievements have supported the development and/or raised awareness of athletes with a disability.

SW/S  INSPIRATION IN SPORT focuses on an individual who has made a continuous impact in sport overcoming adversity herself or supporting others facing barriers to their own sporting aspirations.  Through this work she has impacted positively on women in sport in Scotland.

sportscotland YOUNG SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR We are looking for an athlete or para-athlete, participating at junior level, who through application was selected for representation on the international stage.  Any athlete who has achieved excellence in their sport during season 2025/2026 born after December 2007.

TEAM OF THE YEAR This award recognises the high-quality achievements of a team over the last year/season and reflects on how they have achieved excellent performance results.  The team winning this award must have achieved sporting excellence whilst encompassing good practice within their structure.

COACH/MANAGER OF THE YEAR The Coach of the Year award is open to coaches at all levels in sport and will be presented to the individual who imparts knowledge and expertise within their chosen sport, ensuring Fair Play at all times.

UWS COMMUNITY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR This award is open to teams and clubs at junior and or senior level within sport and will recognise their impact within their community.  The application should reflect on how they engage with their local community, supporting current members and growing their team or club. The team or club must be in membership of a recognised sporting organisation

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR This award is presented to person or group of people who in the opinion of the panel worked tirelessly in the background to support athletes or clubs during the past year.  This award is open to anyone, who has a volunteering role within sport.  This could be a family member, guardian, teacher, coach etc. who through their volunteering and dedication makes a difference to their chosen sport.

PIONEER IN SPORT We recognise and applaud the many women who have forged the way for today’s athletes to participate in sport at all levels.  For this award we are looking for a woman who through her work in sport, which may have largely have gone unrecognised, whether on or off the field, has empowered and inspired women and girls to participate in sport today.

MOST VALUABLE PARTNERSHIP As the awareness of women in sport grows, we continue to recognise the importance of sponsorship and having a relationship with a partner organisation who reflects the values of the sport.  This award is not specifically about financial investment, but rather one that complements and works with a sport to actively promote and support women in sport.  It could be a commercial partner, media partner, kit supplier or supplier of in-kind support.
